Aven colony fatal error
Aven Colony
Hi Panic — sorry to hear you’re having this problem. Please try the following:
If you experience a bug or run into other issues playing Aven Colony, please do the following:
1. Outdated or incorrect video drivers are the cause of the majority of issues. Before contacting support, ensure you have the latest production (release) drivers for your video card.
2. Make sure your PC meets the minimum hardware specifications. See <ССЫЛКА УДАЛЕНА>http://bit.ly/AvenColonySteam for our minimum and recommended specifications, and visit http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/ to compare your system to the minimum and recommended specs.
3. Go to our Solved Problems forum at http://steamcommunity.com/app/484900/discussions/2/ to see if your problem has already been addressed.
4. If your issue is performance-related, turning down the graphics options in the Graphics settings will usually help improve frame rates, as will lowering the game’s resolution.
5. If none of those work, try turning off anti-virus programs or excluding Aven Colony from any antivirus checks.
6. Make sure you have sufficient hard drive space.
If none of the fixes in step 3 fix your problem, here are bug reporting instructions:
1. Go to %localappdata%\AvenColony, and you’ll see a folder called «Saved». To go to that folder, simply hold the Windows key and hit R, and then paste %localappdata%\AvenColony\Saved into the box that appears. Hit Enter or click OK and a Windows Explorer window will appear in the correct place.
2. Then please compress the entire «Saved» folder into a ZIP or RAR file (or make them available on DropBox or some other standard file-sharing service) and send it to us at
4. Things that also help us reproduce bugs:
-Screenshots
-Saved games (these live inside the «Saved» folder that you would ZIP up, so no need to send them separately)
-Your DxDiag file (go to your Start menu and type ‘DxDiag’, then select «Save All Information. » and send us that text file)
Aven colony fatal error
I had posted before but gave up & wanted to try again if I can get an answer as to what I need to do to perhaps fix this problem. I made an html page with results for both DxDiag & a SFC scan result. I can record my desktop if needed to show what the game does as well.
I have also tested launching the game in offline mode as I noticed some other players has said that it only did it when they went online. Doesn’t matter on my game it crashes both online & offline.
The game is installed on an M2 disk that reads at 3000MB/s writes at 2500MB/s which is a 2nd M2 not the one listed below. It is temp until I can afford to buy an 8TB M2 which I plan to do in the near future.
Motherboard: MSI Z590 PRO WiFi
Processor: Intel Core i7-11700K 3.6GHz 8 Core
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Memory: 32GB Mushkin Silverline DDR4 2400 (2x16GB)
Video Card: AMD Radeon RX 560 4GB
HDD1: WD Black 500GB SN850 NVMe
HDD2: 8TB Seagate Skyhawk 7200RPM 256MB Cache SATA
Power Supply: Rosewill Glacier 1000M 1000W
Case: Cooler Master HAF XB EVO
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64Bit
The link they provide there is dead.
I’ll go ahead and post the actual solution. Credit goes to the OP of the Link above.

0x200000200000000 Then click on “OK.” Confirm the addition of the variable to the “System variables” list and choose “OK.»»
Sorry to hear you’re having this issue.
Thank you for sharing your dxdiag information in advance.
Are you trying to start a game at all?
Can you choose a campaign? What happens if you do?
Can you please check any windows defender/firewall/anti-virus is not blocking the game at all and add any exceptions for the game?
Get back to us when you can.
Thanks for your reply.
Windows defender is on Windows PC’s as default, so please check this is not blocking the game at all.
Please try running the game as an administrator:
- Right-click the game in your Steam Library.
- Go to Properties then the Local Files tab.
- Click Browse Local Files.
- Locate the game executable (the application).
- Right-click it and go to Properties.
- Click the Compatibility tab.
- Check the Run this program as an administrator box.
Try running Steam as administrator:
- Navigate to your Steam install folder (Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam).
- Right-click the Steam executable.
- Follow the above steps to set it to Run as Administrator
- Restart Steam.
Have you tried different resolutions? Does the issue still occur no matter what you run the game on?
Get back to us when you can.
I have it disabled in Services as it blocks some other programs I use like my DriverMax which is insanely stupid but that’s Microsoft for you. So it isn’t an issue at all cant be being its permanently disabled.
I have already tried running steam as admin no luck there either. This is the only game that crashes like this. I play Fallout 76 quite a bit & it requires a lot more resources then this game does.
Thanks for confirming that for us.
This is very strange!
Can you please follow the steps in the link to perform a clean boot [support.microsoft.com] ?
A clean boot is being used to start your Windows device using a minimal set of drivers and start-up programs.
Windows 10:
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open the Task Manager.
- Click More Details.
- Select the Startup tab.
- Right-click on each item and select Disable.
- On the Services tab click to select the Hide all Microsoft services checkbox, and then tap or click Disable all.
- Restart the computer.
Once this is done please launch the game to see if the issue still continues.
To re-enable your start-up programs:
- Follow the steps above again but at steps 3 and 5 right-click and enable all of your programs and services again.
- Then click Apply and restart your computer.
Get back to us when you can.
No problem at all, thanks for trying a clean boot.
Could you please email us your MSINFO to help@team17support.com and include a link to this thread?
The first thing you need to do is to run the game to recreate the crash.
After that you can find the MSINFO via the steps below:
- Open a Run command box by pressing the Windows key and R key at the same time.
— You can also do this by searching «Run» in your Start menu’s search bar. - In the Run window’s dialog box, type msinfo32 and click OK.
- When the System Information window opens, give it a moment to pull information from your system. You’ll know it’s done when you click through the menus on the left and see information for each of them.
- Click File, then Export.
— Do not choose File, then Save as. This will create a very large file that you may not want on your system, and our system has a file size limit that might reject it. - Name your file something simple, like «mymsinfo», and make sure it’s saved as a text (.txt) file.
- Save the exported file somewhere you can easily find it, like your Desktop or your My Documents folder.
— It can take a minute or two for the file to export and save.
The official Microsoft steps: MSINFO [support.microsoft.com]
Once you have done zip/compress the MSINFO, attach it to your email reply.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Hey AWFord and Team 17
I found a fix for this in another Steam thread. Looks to be related to 11th gen Intel CPUs. The Devs were talking about applying a fix, but they provided instructions on a work around. Worked for my crash with Aven as well. Thought I’d share the link since I spent too much time digging around :).

Aven Colony crashes? Game not starting? Bugs in Aven Colony? Solution to most technical problems.
If Aven Colony crashes, Aven Colony will not start, Aven Colony not installing, there are no controls in Aven Colony, no sound in game, errors happen in Aven Colony – we offer you the most common ways to solve these problems.
Be sure to update your graphics card drivers and other software
Before letting out all of your bad feelings toward development team, do not forget to go to the official website of your graphics card manufacturer and download the latest drivers. There are often specially prepared optimized drivers for specific game. You can also try to install a past versions of the driver if the problem is not solved by installing the current version. It is important to remember that only the final version of the video card driver must be loaded – try not to use the beta version, since they can have some terrible bugs.
Do not also forget that for good game operation you may need to install the latest version DirectX, which can be found and downloaded from official Microsoft website.
Aven Colony not starting
Many of the problems with games launching happen because of improper installation. Check, if there was any error during installation, try deleting the game and run the installer again, but before install don’t forget to disable antivirus – it may often mistakenly delete files during installation process. It is also important to remember that the path to the folder with a game should contain only Latin characters and numbers.
You also have to check whether there is enough space on the HDD for installation. You can also try to run the game as an administrator in compatibility mode with different versions of Windows.
Aven Colony crashes. Low FPS. Friezes. Hangs
Your first solution to this problem install new drivers for a video card. This action can drastically rise game FPS. Also, check the CPU and memory utilization in the Task Manager (opened by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + ESCAPE). If before starting the game you can see that some process consumes too many resources — turn off the program or simply remove this process from Task Manager.
Next, go to the graphics settings in the game. First – turn off anti-aliasing and try to lower the setting, responsible for post-processing. Many of them consume a lot of resources and switching them off will greatly enhance the performance, and not greatly affect the quality of the picture.
Aven Colony crashes to the desktop
If Aven Colony often crashes to the desktop, try to reduce quality of the graphics. It is possible that your PC just does not have enough performance and the game may not work correctly. Also, it is worth to check out for updates — most of today’s games have the automatic patches installation system on startup if internet connection is available. Check to see whether this option is turned off in the settings and switch it on if necessary.
Black of black screen in the Aven Colony
The most common issue with black screen is a problem with your GPU. Check to see if your video card meets the minimum requirements and install the latest drivers. Sometimes a black screen is the result of a lack of CPU performance.
If everything is fine with your hardware and it satisfies the minimum requirements, try to switch to another window (ALT + TAB), and then return to the game screen.
Aven Colony is not installed. Installation hangs
First of all, check that you have enough space on the HDD for installation. Remember that to work properly installer requires the declared volume of space, plus 1-2 GB of additional free space on the system drive. In general, remember this rule – you must always have at least 2 gigabytes of free space on your system drive (usually it’s disk C) for temporary files. Otherwise, the games and the other software may not work correctly or even refuse to start.
Problems with the installation may also be due to the lack of an internet connection or it’s instability. Also, do not forget to stop the antivirus for the time game installation – sometimes it interferes with the correct file copy, or delete files by mistake, mistakenly believing they are viruses.
Saves not working in Aven Colony
By analogy with the previous solution, check for free space on HDD — both on where the game is installed, and the system drive. Often your saves are stored in a folder of documents, which is separate from the game itself.
Controls not working in Aven Colony
Sometimes the controls in game do not work because of the simultaneous connection of multiple input devices. Try disabling gamepad, or, if for some reason, you have two connected keyboards or mouses, leave only one pair of devices. If your gamepad does not work, remember — the games usually officially support only native Xbox controllers. If your controller is defined in system differently — try using software that emulates the Xbox gamepad (eg, x360ce — step by step manual can be found here).
No sound in Aven Colony
Check if the sound works in other programs. Then check to see if the sound is turned off in the settings of the game, and whether there is correct audio playback device selected, which is connected your speakers or headset. After this check volumes in system mixer, it can also be turned off there.
If you are using an external audio card — check for new drivers at the manufacturer’s website.
