Unable to connect to database error message

Unable to connect to database error message

This table describes how to address common errors you might encounter while connecting to the Database Toolbox™ using Database Explorer or the command line.

Connection Error Messages and Probable Causes

Database Toolbox software is not installed.

You are connecting using the native ODBC interface with MATLAB ® R2013a or earlier.

Ensure that Database Toolbox software is installed.

If you want to use the native ODBC interface, ensure that MATLAB R2013b or later is installed.

The specified data source name does not exist.

This error message occurs with Windows ® only.

Create a JDBC or ODBC data source using the corresponding databaseConnectionOptions or configureODBCDataSource function. For examples, see Configure Driver and Data Source.

The specified name-value pair arguments are invalid with the database(datasource, username, password,Name,Value) syntax.

Specify one or more of these valid name-value pair arguments with the database function: ‘AutoCommit’ , ‘ReadOnly’ , ‘LoginTimeout’ , and ErrorHandling .

All ODBC-Compliant Databases

Data source name is not spelled correctly.

Verify your data source name.

There is a difference in the bitness (32-bit or 64-bit) between the database, driver, and MATLAB.

Use a 64-bit driver. If you have issues working with the ODBC driver, use the JDBC driver instead. For details about driver installation, see Configure Driver and Data Source.

To address differences in bitness for Microsoft ® Access™ , see Microsoft Access ODBC for Windows.

All JDBC-Compliant Databases

Specify the full path to the JDBC driver file in the Driver Location box and the correct driver name in the Driver box of the JDBC Data Source Configuration dialog box. For details, see the databaseConnectionOptions function.

The specified data source name does not exist.

This error message occurs with UNIX ® only.

Create a JDBC data source using the databaseConnectionOptions function. For examples, see Configure Driver and Data Source.

The specified driver location in the JDBC data source is invalid.

Modify the JDBC data source to specify a valid JDBC driver location using the databaseConnectionOptions function.

Error occurs in the Connection Failure dialog box after clicking Connect in the Connect to a Data Source dialog box.

The file location of the Microsoft Access database is incorrect.

Verify the location of the database file. If the database file is on a network drive, map to the network drive.

Modify the existing file location by selecting New > ODBC and selecting the existing database name from the ODBC Data Source Administrator dialog box. Then select Configure to change the database file location.

Microsoft SQL Server ®

Incorrect server name or port number.

Verify your database server name and your port number. Microsoft SQL Server uses a dynamic port for JDBC. Verify the value using Microsoft SQL Server Configuration Manager. For details, see Step 2. Verify the port number.

Microsoft SQL Server

The Microsoft SQL Server Windows authentication library is not added to javalibrarypath.txt .

Add the Microsoft SQL Server Windows authentication library to javalibrarypath.txt . For details about configuring a Microsoft SQL Server Authenticated Database Connection, see Microsoft SQL Server JDBC for Windows.

Microsoft SQL Server

64-bit ODBC driver error.

Use a JDBC driver or the native ODBC interface instead.

Microsoft SQL Server

The full path to the JAR file was not added to the javaclasspath.txt file, or it was added using the javaaddpath command. Alternatively, the path to the JAR file is incorrect.

Ensure that the path to the JAR file is not misspelled. Ensure that you add the path to the static class path.

Microsoft SQL Server

The path to the folder containing the file sqljdbc_auth.dll was not added to the javalibrarypath.txt file. Or, the full path to the file was added instead of the path to the folder. This error also occurs when you add the path to the 32-bit version of the DLL using a 64-bit version of MATLAB.

Add the path to the folder containing the file sqljdbc_auth.dll to the javalibrarypath.txt file. For details about configuring a Microsoft SQL Server Authenticated Database Connection, see Microsoft SQL Server JDBC for Windows.

Microsoft SQL Server

Either the login credentials you are using are incorrect or your user account does not have enough rights to access the remote machine. This error also occurs when the database server is not configured to accept Integrated Windows Authentication login credentials.

Ensure that your user name and password are correct. Refer to your system administrator for appropriate access rights to your machines. Contact your database administrator to see if your database is set up with Windows Authentication.

Microsoft SQL Server

Incorrect user name and password combination.

Verify your user name and password.

Incorrect server name or port number.

Verify your database server name and port number.

Provided database name is incorrect.

Verify your database name.

MATLAB cannot find the Oracle DLL that the oci8 drivers need.

Add the path for the location of the Oracle DLLs to javalibrarypath.txt . For details, see Oracle JDBC for Windows.

The DriverType parameter is not specified.

Specify the DriverType parameter as either thin for connecting without Windows authentication or oci for connecting with Windows authentication.

Either Server or Portnumber is not specified or has an incorrect value.

Verify the server name and port number for your Oracle database.

The service name for your database is incorrect.

Verify the service name for your Oracle database.

Сайт на Joomla выдает ошибку, связанную с базами данных (Database Error). Как это исправить?

В случае неправильной настройки соединения Joomla с БД чаще всего возникают такие ошибки: Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL или Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to database

Например, в старых версиях они назывались так: $mosConfig_host, $mosConfig_user, $mosConfig_password, $mosConfig_db и т.п.

Если при сохранении исправленного файла вы увидите ошибку записи файла, смените права для файла с текущих на 0644 (это делается с помощью иконки «Сменить права» в файловом менеджере контрольной панели) и заново исправьте файл.

The from the privileges i reset all the passwords of the root user. and kept no password for the same.

saved the settings and checked with the installation of Joomla..

IT WORKED . .may be the database in Joomla was not getting connected.

Anyways .. the problem is solved .

Hope this will help you guys as well.

By the way thanks for all the replies.

Go to PHPmyadmin.

Select the database and click Privileges.

Select no password, if you are not using it. If you are using password, fill up newpassword.

Try it one more time.

it should be ok by now.

Cheers.

I have the same problem but am new to all of this: «Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL» after Database Configuration. I assume the «PHPmyadmin» elvis refers to is the subdirectory under «xampp». If so, what database should be clicked on? If not, where is it and what the heck do I do next? 🙂

I would suggest you take a look at http://docs.joomla.org/Beginners to get the information you are likely to need. In particular the Quick Start Guide, and in more detail the Installation Manual.

I just about have the Quick Start and the Installation Manual memorized at this point. In fact, I had one successful download and had completed the Smart Landscape tutorial. When it was time to go for the real thing, I could not exit the SL database. Every link from http://localhost/joomla15 in the QG to http://localhost/joomla15/administrator . &task=help kept taking me back to the SL log in page. I ultimately removed both Joomla and Xampp and reloaded both. Xasmpp went fine but now I am stalled with reloading Joomla. I have searched the Quick Start Guide, Installation Manual and the forums. The thread I responded to was the only instance that I could find with the same error message that I have. I did come across and make the modifications to the code recommended in http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=429&t=281056 but it didn’t make any difference.

I realize that that there may be a solution that has already been published. But between the copious «revision» notes in the Installation Manual, the obviously abbreviated instructions in the Quick Start and the large number of instances of others not being able to access the database for a number of reasons, I would appreciate a little direct assistance on how to address the «Unable to connect to the database: Could not connect to MySQL» error message following the Database Configuration page.

Access XAMPP control panel by putting localhost in your Web Browser.
The PHPMyAdmin being referred to is in the XAMPP menu about 3/4’s the way down. Click the link to open the PHPMyAdmin interface with the MySQL database.
When the start page of the database appears (or it might be a login screen first off if you have added any passwords to this during set up) you will see a an input field for Create Database — enter a name for the database you are going to create. In the field immediately next to it you will see (probably) the word Collation selected from a whole list of names. Scroll down this list an select Utf-8 unicode. In the box immediately above these two you will see another list in this make sure that UTF-8 unicode is selected.
Now click the Create button.
All being well you will get a confirmation screen pop up on the screen Database xyz has been created.

If you have not added any passwords during set up of XAMPP your MySQL settings will now be host=localhost username=root password = (nothing at all as you have not entered one) Database Name= (whatever you have just named your database) the type box at the top should be mysql. These are the settings that you will enter into Joomla! Installation at Step 4. You do not need to do anything at Step 5 as you are on Windows and on a localhost.

You don’t need to make any modifications from the post you quoted as you are naming the databases yourself. (anyway 1.5.3. is now out and corrects that fault)
